Blepharoplasty
|
|
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) removes fat - usually along with excess skin from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery helps a person look more rejuvenated, attentive, and alert than perhaps any other surgery. Some researches indicate that this is one of the most prevalent plastic surgery procedures men opt to have - to look and stay competitive at work.
A few eye conditions such as dry eye or lack of sufficient tears, high blood pressure or other circulatory disorders, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes make this procedure more difficult. We need to examine each case to decide on the appropriate method to achieve your desired outcome.
It is typically an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia which numbs the area around your eyes. The whole operation may take about 45 minutes. As the anesthesia wears off your eyelids may feel tight and sore but our patients can usually control any discomfort with the pain medication prescribed by us. It is not uncommon for the patients to look black and blue for a week following the surgery, and you may want to take off work for about seven days.
We closely follow your progress for a week or so and you will be able to return to most normal activities within a couple of days.
